Histogram in Excel

Algorithm to create a dynamic Histogram in Excel

The following procedure is done to create a dynamic histogram in Excel:

  1. Taking numerical data
  2. Determine Minimum and Maximum of data
  3. Subtract the Maximum from Minimum
  4. Set the number of bins which your final histogram should include (maybe sqare of n)
  5. Calculate: (Max - Min) / (NumberOfBins - 1)
  6. Create a table with all bins
  7. Determine the absolute frequency by using the function "Frequency" and the keys: Ctrl. and Shift
  8. Determine the relative frequency by calculating the frequency of one bin dividing by the number of all observations
  9. Create a graph of the relative frequency or the relative frequency
  10. Adjust the graph
